Presbyterian Life Honors Ex-Rolfe Minister J P Lester
In Presbyterian Life December issue Rev. Dr. J P Lester, now deaf and in frail health, and Miss Dorothy Green serve two churches near Mena Arkansas with Mrs Lester. A new country church was built by generous bequest from the late Mrs Josephine Mencely of Troy New York. Lester led Rolfe Presbyterian from 1920 to 1931 and still reads the Arrow and Hee Haw News.

George Buckwalter of Laurens was appointed Pocahontas county chairman of the United Fund of Iowa Inc Oscar Lundgren district VP announced. Rites Held for Joe Shimon at Pocahontas Church
Joe H. Shimon age 53 died in a Rochester Minnesota hospital on December 23 from heart trouble. Requiem Mass was read at St. Margaret's in Rolfe with Fr. A Tewell officiating. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery Pocahontas. Pallbearers included Richard Gerry Richard Stoner Melvin Gangstad Francis Kopriva Verndi Shimon and Paul Sinek. Survivors include his wife Opal Shimon son Kermit and four sisters. Relatives attended from several states.

The Boy Scouts will pick up discarded Christmas trees Saturday January 5. Residents should place dismantled trees in the front yard between the present date and early Saturday morning. The Scouts will use them to build bird shelters in a continuing project.
