Pocahontas County Board Sets Tax Levy and Appoints Officers
Pocahontas County Iowa Board of Supervisors met November 21 1950 in regular session. Arthur C and Neola Henry were appointed Steward and Matron of the Pocahontas County Farm for a year starting January 1 1951. Bond approvals were granted for Henrys and Koopman Bros. Tax levies for 1950 were approved across state county township and school funds totaling 15626 with detailed allocations for each levy and district. Several audits and miscellaneous expenses related to road maintenance schools and public services were approved and itemized.

The kindergarten welcomed Jane Nichols and Billy Reeves joining the group as students learn name writing and read My Shadow while raising concerns about several with mumps and chicken pox. The class supports March of Dimes fundraising to fight Polio and healthful habits. First grade enjoyed a Valentine party and noted new student Dale Reeves from Albert City. several classmates ill with mumps or chicken pox. The reading groups completed books and begin new units, with phonics advancing from long a to long i. Second grade shows progress in reading units More Friends and Neighbors and New Story Book Friends while continuing phonics study.
