Local notes detail visits and travel among Plover area families including the Bucks Heathman and Sroufe families with guests from Rolfe Laurens Des Moines and Ames. Community events include Willing Workers meetings dressings and a World Day of Prayer service in the Methodist church.
Mr and Mrs Charles A Schott long time Pocahontas residents celebrate their golden wedding with a 9 am Sacred Heart High Mass led by Rev H Karnoff and assisted by several local pastors. A noon family dinner followed at Legion Memorial hall with gold and white decorations.
The Proyer Church of the Open Bible led by Pastor D E Elliot invites community worship. Sunday school at 9 45 a m morning worship at 11 00 a m Sunday evening evangelistic service at 7 45 p m Wednesday prayer meeting and Bible study at 7 45 p m Beginning this Sunday at 6 30 p m a special young people service encouraging local youths to attend.
Gardner L. Winn pastors the Plover church with Sunday school at 10 a.m. United Youth Fellowship at 7 p.m. at the Methodist church, and Thursday choir practice. Members are urged to join the sacrificial meal for overseas relief during Lent and Trinity Larger Parish holds a council meeting and potluck at Luverne town hall on Monday February 12 at 6 30 p.m.
Divine worship at 11 a.m. Youth Fellowship at 7 p.m. Union World Day of Prayer at 7 30 p.m. The choir meets at Glen For sythe home Thursday evening. The W S C S will meet at church Thursday at 2 30 p.m. tha.
Mr and Mrs Schott long time residents of Pocahontas share family history from Germany to Illinois and Minnesota. They raised seven children in Pocahontas and their family expanded to 18 grandchildren with one great grandchild. Mrs Schott nee Stelpflug born 1880 in Wisconsin. They were involved in farming and civic life including joint efforts with relatives and neighbors.
