Bank Receiver Cliff Howe of Rolfe examined community matters Thursday afternoon. H G Gibson visited Sioux City on business Tuesday. Adam Schubacker, former Havelock boy, is seriously ill in Fort Dodge Lutheran Hospital with a tubercular kidney. Mr and Mrs C H Claus and child of Fort Dodge stayed with Mr and Mrs J H Reimers and family. Pla Mor Rolfe reopens Friday February 15 under C J Moen management. Ludwig Johnson of Laurens toured Havelock for business. Chas Meredith of Burns Wyoming visited his uncle Andrew Meredith and family. R E Grover went to Laurens on Friday for business. James Wright called on old friends in Laurens Thursday. Miss Gross, former Irvin Carpenter employee, returned to Mallard after a severe appendicitis attack. Elmer Sandvig and family of Rolfe visited Mrs Sandvig’s parents, Mr and Mrs H D Gruyer, over the weekend. A note urges paying the past due Arrow subscription.

Cage Teams Lose Double Bill

The Havelock boys and girls basketball teams lost to Fonda on their home floor Friday evening. The Havelock girls led most of the game but Fonda closed strong with two field goals and a free throw to secure the win.

The Fonda team sped past the locals to a decisive 28 to 12 win. The visitors used quick transitions and sharp passes to seize control early and never give up the lead.

Havelock high school alumni stage Come Out of It Again and When the Wife's Away at a Wednesday PTA meeting in the school auditorium directed by Mr. Smalick. An intermission entertainment, social hour, and refreshments follow the program.

Ladies Auxiliary Im Ene Post Legion meets in Ralle home

The Ladies Auxiliary of Im Ene Post of the American Legion reports 60 paid members and 100 percent service department participation. They will serve lunch at the Feb 16 indoor carnival and hold a board party Feb 21 at Legion Hall. President Mary Smith and Secretary Sadie Goodchild will attend the Feb 25 Des Moines state meeting. A Girls 4 H Club is being organized with Bertha Ellsworth and Goldie Ralle leading junior activities. Flag Codes have been ordered for school display.

Local Auxiliary Holds Meeting With Quilt Block Social

Attendees received numbered door tickets for a membership prize at Monday’s meeting. Mrs John Ralle held the lucky number. After business and program, a social hour featured everyone working on quilt blocks for the local Auxiliary unit.

Teens Foil Phantom Robber at Phillips 66 Station

Late Saturday night two 17 year olds at the Phillips 66 station near Havelock confronted a would be robber. The attacker waved a toy pistol and tried to frisk a clerk for a wallet but was struck with a hammer by a youth and fled in a car, leaving his blood smeared cap as the only clue.
