The Traer Star-Clipper surveyed business firms on ad preferences. In Traer town 82 percent favored newspaper ads, 16 percent circular letters, a small share pamphlets, and 2 percent movie theater ads. Surrounding communities showed 84 percent newspaper ads, 15 percent circular letters and pamphlets, 1 percent movie ads.
Claus Helland died unexpectedly at his West McCallsburg home last Wednesday evening after a winter of heart problems. He and his wife had moved from the farm to town the prior Saturday. Survived by his wife and nine children including Mrs Sampson Jr and Mrs Iva Moon, with four other children predeceased. Funeral held at Bethany Lutheran with Rev H N Bakke officiating. a Norwegian language duet and quartet performed. Pallbearers listed.
Andrew Olson Hans 0 Hanson Marshall Pearson and Charlie Christian with Tom Ihle returned from Chicago with a truckload of poultry and eggs. The empty crates and secondhand furniture caught fire near Clinton. truck and furniture burned while some crates were salvaged. Ihle rode a train home. Bergland returned to Chicago and came back later.
