Moving Day Shifts Mark Local Housing For March

Saturday moving day brought a flood of relocations in the town. Numerous families swapped farms and residences, including Ivan Sampson who moved to town, Lars Rosen from Frost to the Arneson farm, and Sherman Larson taking the Bertine Holland residence in Roland. Several others followed, with Oscar Chelsing, John Stole, and I. Sime among those starting new farming runs or shifting to new homes as local families reestablish households and farms. Boost for home industries ends the list urging readers to report news to the hometown paper.

Waffle Supper Planned by Salem Church Ladies Aid

A serving committee of the Ladies Aid society at Salem church will host a waffle supper in the church parlors starting at 5 PM on Friday March 7. The menu features waffles with butter and syrup sausage cookies and coffee all for 30 cents.

Increase in Pea Acreage Assured with New Stations

Marshall Canning announces a 300 acre boost in pea cultivation for this year. Three new vining stations will be built at Fernald Zearing and Randall with factory upgrades including 10 additional kettles in the cooking department. Carl J. Jacobson replaces J. J. Thompson in farmer coordination as Noel Thompson assists. Over 100 acres secured at Fernald and Zearing, plus contracting near Randall.

Nevada candidate Sam S Hanson announces his bid to succeed Chas W Harris as Story County supervisor. Hanson, raised in Collins township and long a major Story County farmer, previously served two terms on the board 1911 to 1917 and helped oversee the construction of the Story County Home.

Luther State Teachers Triumphs Over Local Team 85 to 25

Large local crowd in Cedar Falls watched Luther State Teachers defeat the home team 85 to 25. It was the final college game for forwards Reuben Sandren and Benjamin Duen of the local town, who will graduate this year. Guard Lester Shafland of the Luther lineup faced his townsman Sandven.

Elections for schools on Monday March tenth

Next Monday March 10 polls open at noon and close 7 p m. Roland voters will use the assembly room over the First National Bank to elect two school directors replacing C H Risdal and Henry M Hanson. Candidates are Adolph Eggland E H Mathison C H Risdal and Joel Sandvold. top two win. In McCallsburg Consolidated district polls are in Tett s Hall with two directors to be chosen among S J Nelson J S Thompson and Olaus Osheim. A treasurer race has Thor O Hegland as sole candidate.

Roland Golf Club Elects New Board at Annual Meeting

The Roland Golf Club held its annual meeting at the First National bank assembly room last Thursday evening. Dr J A Snyder presided as president while nine directors were elected: Dr K E Rosheim S H Frederickson A M Michaelson M O Rod Eli N Nelson I M Cole J E Britson H E Evenson and E K Thompson. Officers to be elected by the new board expect to meet soon. No golf course arrangements have been made yet. the matter will be handled by the new officers. The club has used the Sheldahl pasture in southwest town since organizing three years ago.

District Commander Coming to Address Local Legion Gathering

Andy Camps of Des Moines, commander of the seventh district of the Iowa American Legion, will address a joint meeting of the local post and auxiliary at the school house next Thursday evening, March 18. The regular monthly meeting invites all members and eligible members to attend and hear Mr Cumps. The auxiliary ladies will serve a luncheon.

Luther League Convention Set For Marshalltown

The Story City Circuit Luther League spring meeting will be held at Elini Lutheran Church in Marshalltown on Friday through Sunday, March 14 to 16. Rev. Olaf Holen will preside, with delegates from this area attending.
