Excursion showcases Arkansas Valley Railroad reach
Rocky Ford bankers and businessmen rode a special Arkansas Valley Railroad train to La Junta and Holly to inspect new markets. The trip highlighted irrigation prospects from Fort Lyons to Holbrook canals, with stops at Lamar, Las Animas, Wiley, and other towns. The party praised management and local hosts and noted vast prairie lands, alfalfa growth, and the region’s irrigation potential.
