Respected Luce Township Citizen William Stevenson Dies
William Stevenson, a longtime Luce township and county figure, died suddenly at his home near Eureka from heart failure last Saturday afternoon. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Bethany church, with burial at Sunset Hill. He was 80 years old, survived by his daughter Ruth and a large family, and had served in the county legislature and as county commissioner. He and Amanda Frazier celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1905.

Death of J Fred Selzer Prompted by Telegrams
Telegrams report the death of J Fred Selzer in Golden Dale Washington. He left Spencer county near Oakland Cen terville in 1880 and left no heirs here. Brothers Chris and William Selzer, the only relatives living, were notified and chose burial in Washington or possible return of the body. An estate may pass to Spencer county relatives after proving kinship.

Whiskey Confiscation Follows Chrisney Standoff
Grover Shaddix was arrested by Town Marshal Herrwell in Chrisney on a charge of illegal liquor sales. Bond set at $200 for appearance in Rockport court. Officers found 96 quarts of bottled in bond whiskey at his premises, 94 quarts at home, and 2 quarts at his business, all seized and stored in the village calaboose.
