Court records show the will of Charles Meuser probated. Emma M. Meuser named executrix. all estate property bequeathed to the widow. execution witnessed by C. C. Mason and John G. Rimstidt on October 26, 1915. Other actions include sales, estates final reports, and several civil cases ongoing.

Registration Board Appointed for September 18 Delegates

The registration board for the constitutional convention election on September 18 is named with Lewis Woolfolk as ex officio member, Anthony Stevenson, and Wm. M. Smith. John A. Huffman is the chief clerk. First meeting to plan will be next week after court adjourns. Voter registration begins about June 10 and remains open for 60 days.

Omaha draft joins cavalry: Lawrence Huff to Fort Logan

County Surveyor A C Huff reports his son Lawrence has joined a cavalry company in Omaha for war service. He passed examination and is now stationed at Fort Logan Colorado. Lawrence worked as a draftsman for Vreeland Steel and Iron Company of Omaha.

Richland High wins third annual Warrick Spencer meet

In wet conditions at Rockport fair grounds Richland High School took first place in the third annual track and field meet for Warrick and Spencer counties. Ricker led Richland with multiple wins including the 100 yard dash and 220 yard dash, while Boonville, Newburgh, Rockport, Grandview, Gentryville, and Stateville contributed top placements. Final team scores list Richland with 394 points, Boonville 18, Rockport 14, Grandview 133, Newburg 13, and Gentryville 10.

Goan Thieves Fail In Corn Theft At Government Light

Report from Enterprise area says thieves stole corn from a sunken flat boat at the government light near Enterprise last Friday. The thieves fled before daylight as the boat sank during loading. Investigators expect to locate and arrest them. Also noted is the funeral of Edward J. Krueger at Shiloh last Sunday conducted by Rev. M O Robbins.

Strassell Named Democratic Candidate for County Schools

At a Spencer county Democratic Trustees meeting in Lincoln City Joseph W Strassell was nominated to succeed himself as county superintendent. He won the caucus on the first ballot with 3 votes over Edwin Howe and Carl Wollner, each with one vote. The trustees pledged support to the caucus choice for the June election.

Rockport Milling Co Secures Grandview Warehouse Contract

The Rockport Milling Company won a $5,000 contract last Monday to erect a two story warehouse in Grandview near the traction depot. Charles E. Mitchell of Tell City was the successful bidder among eleven. lumber supplies to be provided by the Milling company.

Recruiting Effort Secures Evansville Volunteers

H. S. Bulter of the Evansville Courier and Lieut. C. J. Folz with Harold Burgess and Walter Herman of troop A visited Tuesday to form a volunteer company for the war. They secured Charles Cain Robert Woods Clyde Hammond and Harry Balderson with Hammond the sole acceptor after enlistment exams.

The county commissioners awarded the John G Rimstidt et al highway contract to James RF Nunn for 10216 dollars, with John M Huffman to supervise. Titus bid 6999 dollars on Hammond township road. Seward Dawson to supervise. Other petitions continued. attorney fee limit set at 100 dollars. Day resigns as Luce township justice. John Fodder appointed.

Canner Fund Backed By PTA For Community Food Preservation

An enthusiastic PTA meeting at the High School discussed food conservation for winter. Talks covered drying corn and beans, sulphuring apples, kraut methods, water glass eggs, and steam canner use. The group voted to purchase a canner for summer operation and fall classroom use, inviting donations to the canner committee.

County gains over 1916 were in Grandview and St Meinrad. losses by township totaled 181. Total school-age population is 5442.
