Receiver Pedley appointed for Owensboro Savings Bank and Trust Company after midweek suspension following depositor runs. Capital stock 200000, individual liability 200000, surplus 50000 total 450000 likely exhausted leaving depositors with large losses. Bank advertised widely and held foreign deposits reportedly 500000. Daviess County Bank and Trust Company also closed with voluntary assignment to creditors.
John Park has perfected a torpedo shaped flue scraper with expanding rims and sharpened reamers to clean soot from flues and was granted a patent for an earth auger that digs holes in dry or underwater earth, promising to greatly reduce labor.
Mrs. Grant Atkinson fractured both bones of the left leg just above the ankle in a fall at her Washington street home. She stood on a child's high chair adjusting a stove pipe when the chair tipped, throwing her to the floor. Dr. Weiss set the fracture. she is doing very well.
W H Harvey aged seventy seven dies at his residence three miles south of town. The obituary notes his longtime residence in the area and marks his passing in a quiet, rural setting.
Spencer county pianist Aldah McCoy connected with DePauw University School of Music and daughter of Dr L H McCoy of Richland City presented a well received piano recital in Meharry hall. Her Beethoven Sonata opening the program showcased her grasp and artistry. The Green Castle Banner lauded her talent temperament and industry and noted the audience left inspired.
The local Odd Fellows lodge marked the 89th anniversary with a reception in the lodge room. F. B. Posey of Evansville spoke on the order’s good work, followed by readings and musical selections by the I. O. O. F. orchestra. Refreshments were served by Rebexah degree ladies.
A L Tullis died Tuesday at 6 a m at the home of Henry Brand near Silver Dale church after months of lung trouble. Funeral held Wednesday at Shiloh at two o'clock with Rev R R Bryan officiating. He was a member of the M E church at Shiloh and married about ten years ago to Katie Brand. Survived by wife and many relatives.
Rockport led 4 3 after six innings when rain halted the game. Owensboro had batted seven innings and stood at four to four before the final half inning was not played. The game was awarded to Rockport 4 to 4 due to incomplete seventh inning. Princeton visits next Sunday for a 2 30 call.

Residents on west Elm and 8th streets face pavement plans as Engineer Wells surveys for new pavements. Old property lines proved misaligned with fixed boundaries. Balderson’s house intrudes on 8th street, Vogel’s property encroaches two feet, and Jennings’ barn intrudes about four feet into the same street.
The State of Illinois prosecuted Theo G Nelson John Genter and Charles W Bowne for criminal libel against J A Everitt in the Equity Farm Journal. A First Criminal Branch jury found all defendants guilty on April 18 after a trial that followed Everitt’s long disputed tenure as president of the society. Everitt is exonerated and vindicated after thirty years of scrutiny.
The Matteler family surprised Mrs Motteler with a birthday dinner last Wednesday at the old home. Four sons and two daughters with multiple relatives gathered, a photographer captured the family group, and all enjoyed a pleasant noon gathering.
Hanson F. Wood aged eighty five years three months and fourteen days died Tuesday at his Grandview home. The remains were brought to the city and lie with his daughter Mrs Sherman Small. The funeral is set for Friday at two o clock. He served as a soldier in an Illinois regiment and was a well known citizen.
A severe windstorm Sunday afternoon hit the southern Spencer County area with heavy rain and hail. It toppled fruit and shade trees, blew down barns including BE M Payne’s near the river, knocked over silos on Wright and Will farms, damaged roofs and windows, and flooded low lands. The Rockport fairgrounds lost many large shade trees. Court records note a bastardy case Ela State ville vs Charles McNutt postponed to May 138th and a damage suit continued due to defendant illness.

Roy Atkinson and Miss Pearl Bender were married in Tennyson last Saturday. The couple will reside in Oakland City where Mr. Atkinson works in the creamery business.
City officials note planting shade trees along Rockport streets has been done too randomly and many are wrongly located. They warn shade trees hinder paving as concrete pavements spread across almost every street.
Dr. Shirley Lang left last Saturday for Louisville to join a group of railroad surgeons en route to Birmingham for the annual meeting of the Association of Southern Railroad Surgeons. Lang serves as the Southern Railroad surgeon in the city and is a member of the association.
