Port au Prince reports say ten or eleven alleged rebels were executed after authorities uncovered letters linking General Antenor Firmin to a fresh insurrection. President Nord Alexis pledged order and security while naming implicated officers to face trial.
Washington reports a U S gunboat likely Eagle sails from Guantanamo to Port au Prince Haiti as officials cite precaution after Sunday executions of alleged revolutionists. General Firmin, refugee in Gonaives, leads suspected renewed rebellion per dispatch to Hayti minister Leger. State department plans noninterference unless American interests or humanitarian need arise.
The Haytien government worries that the men must quit the country while their friends oppose removal. Officials believe allowing them to stay could soon lead to another revolutionary movement.
In New York three girls testified before the grand jury in a serious felony case against Raymond Mitchcock who was later acquitted. Flora Whiston admitted she perjured herself, claiming she acted under Gerry society agents as she testified. She was arrested for perjury and jailed in the Tombs pending bail. Justice Blanchard urged a strict district attorney investigation.
South Bend Indiana March 17 The Belgium government acting for relatives joins in inquiries about Henry Caeser Jourez who settled in 1904 and grew prosperous. He was lured by three Belgian men into sugar beet investment in Michigan with $5000. He vanished while the others later returned to South Bend with funds and dissipated them. Belgium asks Chicago consuls to investigate possible murder and robbery.
Indianapolis March 17 The state and the railroad commission argue before the supreme court in a case against Adams American and United States Express companies to enforce delivery of packages in cities of 2500+ population. The lower courts held the law was repealed with the railroad commission act. The state says the commission does not repeal laws and has investigated express company delivery beyond a mile limit from offices.
In Greensburg Pennsylvania on March 17 three male members of a family were blown to pieces while dynamiting stumps at Acme. The dead are David H. Brown and his sons Roy seventeen and Clark fifteen. The father's trunk was recovered but only small portions of the others were found.
Hopkinsville Kentucky March 17 Crape Knight a Trigg county farmer was shot and killed by Nelson Howard. Knight allegedly attacked his wife and when Howard stepped in Knight turned on him with a large knife. Howard then shot Knight dead at once.
College feeling at the University of Michigan erupted into a riot last night. More than a dozen students were jailed and the Star theater was severely wrecked during the disturbance in Ann Arbor Michigan.
Anderson Indiana March 17 Sheriff Smelser and Prosecutor Van Nuys returned from Greensburg unable to take Edward Demarce and Floyd Florea into custody. Florea’s confession ties them to shooting Walter Ellison at Emporia in September 1905 during a store robbery attempt. They are held at Greensburg for robbery and Madison county authorities plan to claim the prisoners after Decatur county affairs settle.
Premier Campbell Bannerman lies ill. Japanese crown prince may tour America and Europe this summer. Chicago wheat weak on Southwest crop outlook. Public Printer Stillings resigns and is accepted. Billy Papke defeats Hugo Kelly in Milwaukee ten rounds. Williamson police kill 86 year old Alex Trent after arrest resistance. M P Reborn files twenty suits over Standard Oil stock in Kentucky counties. Prince of Wales invited to Washington could not attend if in Canada next summer. Former Judge O W Buchanan shot on a Southern railway train. James Simpson jailed five years for embezzlement. General A Saunder Piatt dies aged 86 near Bellefontaine Ohio. He is last of the Piatt brothers.
Elmer E. White of Honey Creek, drunk and crazed, slashed merchant Harry Warnock with a razor in Warnock's store. Jacob Abshire stepped in as peacemaker and was severely cut. White was arrested by a posse and committed to jail for assault with intent to kill. Abshire's injuries are more serious.
Judge La Follette overruled a new trial motion in the case of David B Coffee mayor of Decatur found guilty of intoxication. The court declared the office vacant, making C O France the acting mayor who must appoint two new clerks. France receives fifty dollars more annually than the former mayor.
The eight-year-old son of Frank Lawson found an old can in the smokehouse and tried to open it with a case knife. An explosion injured him severely but recovery is possible if blood poison is avoided. The explosive's nature is unknown.
Clarence Kun, aged two, fell into a pan of boiling water on the floor and died from scalding in Evansville Indiana on March 17.

Wesley Lee a sixteen year old student from St Charles Illinois was shot in the head during a sham battle at the Chaddock training school for boys in Quincy Illinois. Forty cadets participated and the coroner's jury ruled the death accidental unable to determine how a loaded cartridge mixed with blanks.
Evansville reports John Berry of Louisville died from the Saturday night shooting near Dixon Kentucky. Paul Carter of Chattanooga remains critically wounded. doctors fear he will also die.
Henry Wiggins a barber and former preacher, found guilty of contributing to the delinquency of a young white girl in Princeton Indiana. He received a prison term from two to fourteen years. The victim will be placed in a rescue home.
