The body of Fred Selzer, who died May 4 in Golden Dale Washington, arrived in Centerville and was buried there after funeral services at the Lutheran church conducted by Rev. J. H. Diehl. The obituary notes Selzer born July 27 1852 in Prussia, came to America in 1855, and lived a faithful life in the German Evangelical church. Survived by brothers Chris W. and William and several nieces and nephews in Grass township.

Citizens at the county court house meeting Wednesday night formed preliminary steps to organize a Rockport Red Cross. Ten names were enrolled and ten dollars paid to secure a charter. Ten members will hold until national headquarters sends the charter, then a full city county organization will follow. A one dollar membership fee admits entrants. the list remains open after the charter arrives.

SHIPS LAST TOBACCO AT McCLARY FACTORY SEASON
Sam Schumaker quit farm work to wind up the season at the McClary tobacco factory. Sixteen hogsheads of the season’s purchase remained and were shipped to Louisville on Friday. Schumaker and son Shirley completed planting 150 acres in corn last week, with plowing done by a tractor. The land spans Grass and Luce townships, one of the county’s large corn tracts.

Grandview Girls Farm Club Cultivates Crops on Four Acres
A group of Grandview teens forms an agricultural club the only one in the area. They rent four acres a mile from town and grow corn tomatoes and navy beans. They borrow 30 dollars from the Grandview bank to buy seed and pay rent, sharing profits and learning farm business alongside study with Mrs Woolfolk and J B Pierson. Funeral held at 1 pm Monday at the residence Rev A M Couchman officiated interment Sunset Hill. She was born Nov 21 1871 in Center Township Vanderburgh Co Ind and taught in Evansville schools. A nurse and deaconess worker, she leaves a husband a sister three brothers and many friends.

The board of directors awarded the contract to T H May & Co of Evansville for a new Odd Fellows business block on Main Street. The 48 by 130 foot structure will house a moving picture theatre with 500 to 600 seats and include a 13 foot wide lighted entrance and rear box office. The contract price is 4750 dollars, with total cost projected at 5500 dollars including adjacent walls and furnace. An additional story may be added in the future.

Guts His Neck While Working With Telephone Pole

Oiling the Streets Tenders Begin Citywide Dust Reduction
The city receives one of three car tank oil contracts for street oiling. Contractor Robert Luckado started spreading oil Tuesday morning. About forty thousand gallons are needed to coat Elm Main Walnut Fifth Third Seminary. Ten tank cars have been sold with two remaining to be ordered as needed.
