Rockport Civic Prize Offer Promotes Cleanliness and Cleanup Day

The Civic Improvement Association of Rockport announces two first and two second prizes for best kept lawns and yards with three and two dollar awards. A citywide cleanup day will follow in summer with district prizes for rubbish piles. Seeds will be given to students to promote spring planting and a neat city appearance ahead of summer visitors.

Guardians Report Balances and Final Settlements Filed

Circuit Court documented guardian reports for multiple wards. Matilda Schroer showed 185.65 due Hallie Mus and the report was approved. Fred Seim reported 33.50 due Lena Fortwendel and was ordered to pay and be discharged. Amos Wright reported 2399.94 paid, 1853.138 due Wright, and 2075.14 due Mason, with approval. John D. Miller filed final report for Ebbert Meredith, showing full settlement. Reed case noted.

Odd Fellows to Celebrate 89th Anniversary in Rockport

The Rockport Odd Fellows plan a Monday evening April 27 observance in the hall for the 89th anniversary of the order. The program includes appropriate exercises an address by a noted Odd Fellow and a luncheon.

I O O F County Meeting In Spencer County

The annual county meeting of the I O O F lodges in Spencer County is held today at Chisney. A parade to the fair grounds follows with Rev C J Grimes delivering the chief address to the Odd Yellows. Afternoon and evening sessions show the degrees by teams: Rockport initiary, Richland City and Midway first, Chesney and Newtonville second, Hatfield third.

West Hurricane Drainage Company Organized in Ohio Township

A new corporation named West Hurricane Drainage is formed by landowners in Ohio township at the head of the Ohio River to drain lands by deepening and constructing a drain into Hurricane creek. First directors are John H. Kirkland, Dr Otto Baumgurtner and D A Miller.

State prosecutor I N Savage went to Boonville to represent the state in the burglary case against Levi Lockhart. Judge Kiper convenes a special term to hear the matter after Lockhart was found guilty in March term but the indictment was deemed insufficient and the verdict set aside.

City Council Plans Pavement Projects This Year

The council outlines a program to build new pavements this year. Officials emphasize improved streets, safety for pedestrians, and likely funding from municipal budgets and grants.
