Arson Detection School Planned for Orange City
Wilbur Johnson state fire marshal announced a two day arson detection school to be held in Orange City November 30 and December 1. The sessions will cover arson detection fire causes evidence preservation and related issues for northwest Iowa fire departments and law enforcement. The event hosted by Orange City Fire Department will take place at City Hall with attendees from Lyon Plymouth and Sioux counties.

The Sioux County Association for Retarded Children launches its annual appeal contacting about 1 850 families. Most county drives are local with a goal not set. 84 000 mentally retarded in Iowa include 15 000 school age children. Sixty seven percent of funds stay local for diagnostic centers daycare training and rehab. 33 percent support state and national group. Chairman is Mrs Pete De Groat of Maurice with a local committee and Leonard De Stigter of Sioux Center as association president.

One Injured As Car Rolls Near Perkins
Joe Russ, 19, Perkins, suffered neck injuries and lacerations when the car crashed into a ditch 2 west and 4 half north of Perkins at 1 am Friday. Rex Klein of Rock Valley, the driver, was cited for loss of control by the Sioux County Sheriff's office.

Chamber to Convene Monday Evening Meetings

Rev Dykstra Dies At Roxbury New York
The Rev A A Dykstra former pastor of the First Reformed Church Rock Valley Iowa died after a heart attack on Nov 4 at a hospital near Roxbury NY where he served as director of Mirkside retirement home for retired ministers and wives. Funeral was in Holland Michigan with survivors including Bernice and six sons. He had served in Maples Lake Gary Kalamazoo Rock Valley and other communities and held church and college positions. Election results note and a hospital admission followed.
