Tollie dog gathers evening paper at Rawleigh rail yard
A tollie dog owned by the M. and St. L. section foreman at Rawleigh near Estherville meets the A. & 5. L. train from Des Moines each evening and brings home his master's paper. The dog has done this for about four years. the train seldom stops but the dog is ready to pick up the tossed paper. It keeps track of train time and alerts by barking if inside the house.

Memory of Fallen Horses Memorial Dedication at Central College
After the Civil War 127 Central College students from Petla enlisted. 24 died. A marble slab honored them, damaged by fire nine years ago. Des Moines student George A. Jewett duplicated the slab and on May 17 dedicated the new memorial in Central Building now run by Holland Reformed. Only two of the 127 survive, including Capt. W. H. Baker who spoke at the ceremony.

Spring Chickens In Demand From Fontanelle Farm To Processing Plant
D D McClure of Fontanelle and associates sold 232 four chickens weighing 629 pounds at 34 cents a pound to Albert Chew produce station. The Jersey Black Giant pullets were six weeks old when bought from a hatchery and later sold to a Swift processing plant in Creston for use by Pilman Company near Chicago.
