Geysers at Yellow stone show renewed activity and new eruption
Reports from the Department of the Interior indicate renewed activity at two of Yellowstone National Park’s largest geysers, the Giant and the Giantess. The Giantess has erupted since the start of the year with cycles around 22 days, lasting about four hours, mostly steam and mist. the Giant has recent night eruptions reaching 180 to 200 feet for 62 minutes, with occasional bursts up to 250 feet. A new geyser, resembling the old Excelsior, began last July and has continued through winter, with a crater 90 by 141 feet and a shaft depth about 71 feet. eruptions occur every 10 to 14 hours lasting four to six hours, displacing roughly 700,000 gallons per eruption.
