Cat Given Ten Day Jail Term for Bite by Siamese Cat Kato
Les and Mary Jane Van Beckum of LeMars own Kato a Siamese cat formerly of Rock Valley. A neighbor babysat the cat while the owners were away and Kato bit her prompting a police call. After ten days in custody it was found there was no rabies danger and Kato was bailed out amid local sympathy at Jim's Place.

Rock Valley hosted its second annual Hay Day on Main Street last Thursday with 44 loads of hay. Prizes went to Jim Leamamet of Sisseton for greatest distance, Clyde Miller of Hurly for heaviest load at over 15 1/2 tons, Clarence De Kam of Rock Valley for highest selling load at 34.00 per ton, and Vic Simone of Marshall for straw at 18.66 per ton. Five dollar certificates went to Bill Balkema, Arlo Rey, Warren Newberg, Howard Zeutenhorst, and Charlie Niemeyer.
