Three More Brush Fires Reported in Week
High winds and dry terrain fueled three brush fires near Rock Valley and surrounding areas. No damage occurred as fires burned near St Kooima farm, 11/2 miles south, on 1th street, and along the railroad right of way near John Draiger cornfield. The Rock Valley council urges residents to follow burning laws and give way to emergency vehicles.

Scholarship Awarded at Sioux City Livestock Contest
John Hulshet 18, son of Mr and Mrs Arnold Hulshet of Rock Fall earns a $200 scholarship to Morningside College at the Sioux City Invitational Livestock Judging Contest. The RVHS EFA team member finished as top boy with 731.70 points out of 2000. top three boys receive $200 scholarships.

Sioux County GOP Plans March 22 Convention in Orange City
The Sioux County Republican Convention will convene March 22 1988 at 10 00 a m in the Court Room Courthouse Orange City to pick 57 delegates to the State Presidential and Regular Republican Conventions. M Kooima Killed When Struck by Car
Michael Kooima a two year old of Arvada Colorado was killed late Friday afternoon when he wandered into the street and was struck by an oncoming car. He was the grandson of Ted and Mrs Kooima of Rock Valley. Funeral services were held Monday and he is survived by his parents a sister Sandra and other relatives.

Two-Car Mishap Causes Six Hundred Dollars In Damages
Rock Valley police report that two vehicles sustained about 600 to 700 dollars in damages in a Wednesday evening collision on Highway 18. Pete Abie turned left into the course as Gilbert Anker attempted to pass, their cars sideswiping at the intersection. Anker received a summons for passing at an interstate region.

Mr and Mrs Ben Mulder Jr received a call that Cpl Daniel Mulder is in California en route to Great Lakes Naval Hospital for treatment of a leg wound from shrapnel. Mulder has been hospitalized in Guam since February 4.

Miss Amnertha Van Zamen, a deaf instructor at Hope Haven, outlined deafness issues and teaching methods.
