Army Corps of Engineers crews conduct soil tests at two Lyon County sites for a Dig-Sioux Rural Area Development dam. Tests at Little Rock River site east of Doon proceed first, then a site northwest of Doon. The Iowa Department of Public Instruction reports 386 bus related incidents in 1966 67 a 28 percent rise from 288 the prior year Eight fatalities and 195 injuries occurred in the period with no injuries in 257 cases Forty percent of fatalities involved pupils including two on a school owned wagon and another struck by a passing truck The report notes 98 incidents had no injuries and property damage totaled 154 974 miles driven and 160 274 incidents per accident averages indicate human error as primary cause and drivers age 20 and under were involved in 59 of the total.

Lowe Receives Four Conservation Grants for Iowa Parks
Four federal grants totaling nearly 122 900 dollars will aid outdoor recreation facilities in Iowa. Grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund are administered by the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation and the Iowa State Conservation Commission. An 88 869 grant funds Lake Anita State Park improvements including sewer lines and bath facilities. A 4 000 grant adds land to Pike's Peak State Park. A 15 000 grant aids Pommel Park development in Forest City. A 316 000 grant helps acquire 200 acres along the Skunk River in Washington County.
