Biography Directory of the American Congress To Press
Anson Wold, long a census clerk turned secretary to the joint printing committee, completes the Biographical Directory of the American Congress. The massive work profiles 9,000 lawmakers, yet 500 biographical blanks remain for birth, death, and burial data, despite letters sent to thousands worldwide. The piece traces directory history, sources, and challenges, including misinformation from relatives and the search for key graves in congressional cemeteries.
