Funeral Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Porter Funeral Home with Rev Mervin Nelson. burial Forest Hill Cemetery Canton. Born April 4 1870 Haldane Illinois. married Nina Leady Stoughton March 9 1898 Dayton Illinois. He worked in Nebraska University education early, then surveyed Black Hills, managed elevators at Smithland Anthon Ta before 1908 Fairview Farmers Cooperative Grain Co for 40 years. Survived by two sons Meredith Long Beach California four grandchildren five great grandchildren.

Flower show set for Friday at Rock Valley high school

Rock Valley FFA officers Bob Smith Ron Landegent and Tueris thn attended the FFA Leadership Camp at Ingham Lake July 23 and 24. They held leadership sessions and entered contests in the FFA Manual Hog Calling and Parliamentary Procedure. Kent Poyisman and Evert Jounska were chosen to represent the chapter at the Cooperative Institute in Columbia Missouri August 6 through 13. Paul Miller Earl De Boy Bob Smith Dennis Gaalsvyk and Ron Landegent will judge at the Sioux County Youth Fair August 10. The next meeting is set for Monday August 16 at 7 30 p m at the Rock Valley Voc Ag building.

Summer Youth Day caps Rock Valley recreation program
The Rock Valley Summer Recreation council ends the year with Youth Day at Valley Park on Thursday August 5 featuring an arts and crafts display, a girls softball game at 5:15, a 6:00 parade downtown, baton twirling at 7:30, an all star baseball game from 8 to 9, and a man of the year award. A food stand will support the event, with rain date Monday August 9.
