Drenched Road Perils From Hydroplaning On Wet Highways
A July 6, 1972 Rock Valley Bee report notes hydroplaning risk when roads are drenched and tire treads are worn. Water standing on a highway can lift tires over the surface, causing loss of brakes and steering control. Replacing worn tires and slowing speed during standing water is advised. The notice also warns to lock cars and not leave valuables inside.
