Four County Area Selected for Law Enforcement Study
Four County area including O'Brien Sioux Lyon and Osceola Counties is chosen for a federal funds crime study to gauge rural enforcement issues. Two Car Crash Near Rock Valley Leaves No Injuries
Police report a two car collision 4 1/2 miles north of Rock Valley at 12 30 a m Saturday. Drivers Lawrence Van Grootheest of Rock Valley and Ruth De Jong of Fairview 5 D sustained $1760 in damages to age vehicles. Van Grootheest received a summons for failure to leave the scene. Sheriff Craig Vinson of Lyon County investigated.

Hope Haven Receives Federal Grant for Training Center
Hope Haven School and Work Training Center for the Handicapped in Rock Valley was awarded a federal Establishment Grant of about 13 699.68 dollars. Funds will buy industrial equipment for the workshop used in rotational rehabilitation of handicapped adults and to perform subcontracted machine shop work for factories in the area.
