Four-Car Collision North of Sioux Center
The Sioux County Sheriff reports a four vehicle wreck on Highway 75 north of Sioux Center. Wilfred Gesch and Dorothy Borsma, Dordt College students, were involved along with Keith Borsma and Peter Vander Lugt from Wandstock. A 9 year old and a passenger suffered injuries including a broken jaw and a compound fracture. A second crash on January 27 near Perkins Gomer intersection involved Derwin Van Middendorp and John Brock Sr with no injuries. Heoek cited for illegal passing.

Kenny Van Voorst, born 1921, runs Vans Shoe Store in Rock Valley with three shoe lines Red Wings Charm steps and stepmasters. A Navy veteran with 19 combat missions, he bought the business in 1947 and expanded it into repair and upholstery. He and his wife Viola Hoogendoorn have two daughters, active in the community and Kiwanis. He sponsors rabbit shows and hopes storefronts modernized.

The Rock Valley Gun Club held its annual meeting in the VEW building. Attendance was down due to road conditions, but attendees enjoyed a free ham and beans dinner. Treasurer Dale Kock reported a successful year with partial debt retirement. Officers Juior Kooima and Lyle Kersbergen were elected president and vice president respectively for one year. Plans include supporting a Boy Scouts rifle range and more shoots next year.

Farm Power School Held In Sioux Center Iowa
A two day farm power and machinery school for northwest Iowa farmers takes place February 13 and 20 at the Community Building in Sioux Center. Extension director Maurice Eldridge notes sessions run 9 30 a m to 3 30 p m with specialists Dale Hull Vernon Meyer and Bill Turner. Topics include tractor engine operation fuels lubrication additives and electric power systems plus economic factors in buying farm power equipment. Details available from county extension offices. Rock Valley Golf Club held an annual meeting last Wednesday despite blizzard conditions. Hoard president Siebert Dorhout led the session with minutes read by secretary Geo Keizer and a treasurer’s report by Earl Gort showing a successful year.
