Officer Tom DeBruin reports arrests pending in a Latin vandalism case at Say-a-Day Laundromat on Thursday night. Several washers and dryers were damaged. fingerprints were obtained and sent to Des Moines for results. Estimated damages around 3120. Two other vandalism incidents occurred that week, including seven destroyed cars near churches. Investigating deputies DeBruin and Roetman pursue leads.

United Fund Board met January 16 at Valley State Bank with Pete Timmer as chairman and members Jake Ver Mulm Mrs John E Har meMok Mrs John Vande Kerk and Mrs Stanley Negaard present. The 1867 drive netted $5204.85 with ten organizations listed on the ballot. Inwood Man Dies In Vietnam War
Inwood resident Pic Douglas Holland, 21, born to Mr and Mrs Don Holland, enlisted in February 1967 and went to Vietnam in October. He served as an interpreter on a scouting mission January 16 when his unit was ambushed. He died from fragmentation missile wounds in the upper body. Funeral rites with full military honors planned at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood. Holland the first Lyon County native killed in the war.

Operatives from a four state area attend a Fieldman's Training Course prepared by the Marketing Services of the Farmers Regional Cooperative in Fort Dodge Iowa. The four month program teaches cooperative history the fieldman's role in modern farm service and farm management with a model 480 acre farm study. Instructors include regional staff and specialists from cooperative and agriculture related businesses to boost technical knowledge for representatives serving former owners of local cooperatives.

Hope Haven Stamp Drive Aims to Fund Buses
Hope Haven School for the Handicapped plans a three state stamp drive in Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota from March 3 to May 15 to raise funds for three small buses and a medical bus. Story Hour For Youngsters at Rock Valley Library
The Rock Valley Library board sponsors a six week story hour for area youngsters. Enrollment extended one week due to sickness and other activities. Two Car Accident Here Saturday At Nine Fifteen
Police officer Larry Van Berkus reported a two car collision at 9 15 Saturday morning at the intersection of Main and 25th Street. Vehicles driven by Mrs Ann Teunissen and Tony Van Zanten collided after Teunissen reportedly turned into the Van Zanten path while he was wavering east on 16th. Estimated damage totaled 250 with 150 to Teunissen and 100 to Van Zanten. Teunissen received a summons for failure to yield the right of way.
