The financial report showed another banner year for the business under manager Clarence Miller. The meeting was held in the VFW clubrooms for the first time.
Local churches plan World Day of Prayer events with services at Peace Lutheran in Plato Township on Friday February 25 at 2 00 pm and at First Reformed Church on Friday February 28 at 2 00 pm The Lutheran service is chaired by Mrs Robert Oldenkamp and Mrs Bernard Schlumbtchm with Mrs Marvins Mouw as organist The First Reformed service is sponsored by the Methodist and First Reformed churches with Mrs Charles Hrnckwedel of Orange City as guest speaker A fellowship coffee hour will follow the service The public is invited to attend
Lust-A-Mere club reports an extra 70 dollars donated to the Hegg Memorial hospital fund raising the total to 3031 dollars. Funds will buy special equipment for the hospital including a rocking isolette to aid newborns. Framing: Lutheran church service at Hildweck Lentén on Friday night February 23 at 7 45 pm. Previously scheduled for Thursday night February 24.
The Filmers Elevator Company will sponsor a fertilizer meeting on Wednesday March 2 at the W A W Fall. The session begins at 10:00 a.m. and includes a free noon lunch, per manager Owen Mancing.
Mr and Mrs Emory F. Suter intend to spend three more weeks vacationing in Florida. Mr Suter, under a doctor's care while in Florida, is slowly improving. Their address is Emory F. Suter, Mel-Mar Trailer Park, 2802 14th Street West, Bradenton, Florida.
Rok Valley Federated Womans Club sponsors Hallmark art talent contest for high school seniors. Prizes include 1000 first, 750 second, 600 third dollars. Mrs Orwin Maun underwent surgery at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls last Wednesday. Henry Kompema returned home from Iowa City after a two week stay for leg surgery and a checkup. Harlan Voetberg of Rock Valley was admitted to Sioux Center Hospital February 12 and dismissed February 14. Mrs Dena Spenkelink, ill, stays with her daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Marlin Vander Velde. Clifton Moore, a patient in Sheldon Hospital, is reported to have a crushed vertebra from a fall at Farmers Lumber Co where he works.
Sioux County announces a golf course dinner on Monday February 21 1994 to mark the start of a new era for local linksman with the event organized by the Sioux County Young group.
The Sioux County Young Republicans will hold a meeting Tuesday March 1 at 8:60 p m at the Sioux County Court House in Orange City. Gubernatorial candidate Jack L Peters has been invited as a guest speaker. The public is invited to attend.
Funeral services for Edward McGuire 75 were held February 15 at St Jean's Catholic Church Sioux City after a long illness. Rev Steve Guesic officiated and burial followed in Calvary Cemetery. McGuire born November 3 1890 in Perkins married Lizzie Tebbin January 29 1913. He worked for Chicago and Northwestern Railway until retirement six years ago and prior to that for Great Northern Railway at Perkins and farmed in Minnesota. Survivors include his widow two daughters a son three sisters a brother and 13 grandchildren.
Winners listed at the Sipma Electric open house include Mrs Loretta Roemen of Doon who received a clothes dryer, Roger Cléveringa of Rock Valley who won dishes, and Mrs Gilbert Van Den Top of Rock Valley who received a hassock.

The Community Oil Company annual meeting at the V F W club rooms reported a solid year with a total sales and receipts of 490 294 58 and a net margin of 47 481 49 plus 15 786 52 in cooperative dividends and interest. Gasoline gallons sold totaled 1 161 483 with fleet gallons 1 605 524. Clarence Miller,manager, noted 106 stockholders and ten door prizes awarded to Gerrit Wisking Albert Pap George Van Beek Matt Baatz Jud Hevern Clarence De Rolen Paul Barry Klass Hendriks Mararet Gas har and Kenneth Brower.
Paul Noteboom 74 died February 23 at a Sioux Falls hospital after a short illness. He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Valley Manor. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 28 at the First Reformed Church in Inwood with Rev Henry W. Kolen officiating. the body will lie in state at Porter Funeral Home until the morning of the service.
