Northwestern College Students Chosen for 55 Piece Concert Band Tour
Muriel Boove and Jim Vander Velde, North western College students from Orange City, join a 55 piece college concert band chosen to tour February 17 to 19. The group will perform at Southern State Teachers College Springfield South Dakota, Lincoln Nebraska, Yankton College, and various area high schools. Maitiel Heve is their daughter. Jim Vander Velde is son of Mar. 1964 graduates of Rock Valley Community High School.

Rural Rock Valley Woman Named Mother of the Year
Mrs Oscar Miller of rural Rock Valley was named Mother of the Year by the Federated Womans Club of Rock Valley at a meeting last week. She and her husband farm southwest of Rock Valley and have five children. Miller is active in Peace Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Rural Study Club, and the Rural Farm Bureau. Her husband Dr V M Miller is a heart and lung specialist in Trackie Wise Eloise. their son Paul will enroll in Ames to study agriculture this fall.

Ray Berner Dies in Rock Rapids Hospital
Ray Berner longtime Valley resident, later in Rock Rapids manufacturing trailer parts, died Wednesday in Rock Rapids hospital after illness. Funeral services set for 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev Alfred Keupins officiating. Porter Funeral Home in charge. Prayer service at 8:00 p.m. Friday in Porter Funeral Home. A fuller obituary will run next week.
