County to Pick Supervisor After Primary Date Debate
The 1972 primary date and an Attorney General opinion will shape when a new Sioux County supervisor is appointed to replace Gerrit Brands, who died recently. The county clerk said the state office is being asked for guidance on delaying appointment until after the primary, with possible action by the county clerk, auditor and recorder. If the AG approves waiting, an appointment could still occur before the primary if the June date shifts to September as urged by some legislators. The current primary date remains unsettled.
