Northwestern Iowa counties show lower heart death rates
Twelve northwestern Iowa counties including Lyon Sioux Osceola Kossuth Dickinson and Cherokee show death rates below state average from 1958 to 1967 according to Dr Krehl regional patterns and rural demographics. Population loss and aging trends partly explain but Johnson Story and Black Hawk counties remained consistently low due to growing populations and university influence.
