Sioux County 4-H junior demonstration judging set for Aug 7 at the Soo Fair with G William Andersen, Clay and Buena Vista 4-H leaders, plus Mrs. Dennis Geerdes, primghar, judging. Crowded Farmers Elevator Holds 68th Annual Meeting
The 68th annual Farmers Elevator meeting in the old High School auditorium was led by Board president Stanley McKeegan. Manager Owen Manning reported a 1968 fiscal year of 3 260 517 in business with 139 549 new savings and 129 642 patronage funds. assets stood at 1 059 525 while 1 966 167 in dividends had been paid since 1938. Ted Ranschau presented the secretary's report. three directors were re-elected: G A Haemelin Wesley Miller and Gerrit Scher, with others named on the board. McMan ning thanked patrons for the best year and noted 23 new cow members, totaling over 4 000. Ralph Kolstad spoke for the Farmers Cooperative in Ft Dodge on cooperatives, expansion through mutual aid, ongoing agricultural research, and food and fiber as essentials to farming. Prizes went to Ben Meerdink Mrs Nick Clevering and Will serck.

Two Minor Accidents Reported This Week
Local police logged two minor accidents this week. On Thursday at 10:00 p.m. Drie Van der Velde swerved on 2th Ave to avoid a backing vehicle near Red Rock Son, struck a parked eastside car owned by Richard Van Zee causing about 230 dollars in damage. Van der Velde’s car sustained around 59 dollars. On Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Dennis Rozeboom backed a mobile glider truck in the Red Rock Tow packing lot into a car owned by Bruce Alien Gr of West Branch Iowa, with damage about 980 dollars. the truck was undamaged.

Alvord marks its Diamond Jubilee with a three day program August 8 to 10. Old Settlers barbecue and pageant Time Rolls up the Curtain feature the opening events, be followed by a Friday dog show magic act and beard judging. Grand parade Saturday culminates in political speeches and the closing pageant. Admission to the pageant requires a small fee, with a 112 page commemorative book for sale.

Rock Valley Swim Team Wins Second Meet In Row
Rock Valley's new tear won its second meet at the Hull Invitational on Saturday July 27 scoring 14 points. Hull was second with 29 points, Rock Rapids 109, Sioux Center 65. A silver trophy and ribbons were awarded. Pool staff praised the swimmers and invited all to Sheldon Thursday to see the team in action.
