Calvin Christian Reformed Church Organized in 1951 Growth and Services
The Calvin Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley organized officially on April 22 1951 as a new congregation born from a crowded First Church. Eleven families and two individuals started activities in various venues until a church building was approved in August 1951 and completed with basement and later auditorium by 1953 built largely by congregational labor. The church has grown to nineteen families with four pastors having served, broadcasts its services on AM and FM, runs mission committees, supports a Japan missionary, and plans pews and carpeting while maintaining an active society program and parish parsonage. State Farm agent John Vonk and family are noted among local community details.
