The Wormwens Missionary Society of the Free Methodist Church held its regular monthly meeting at Mrs Mortie Bailey's home. Mrs Ruth Shiner led in the absence of officers. eight members attended, with gifts of tea towels and aprons to send to Arlington and Broadview camps, total value $26.75.

Mary Snowdon 76 Roblin Manitoba funeral rights held

Funeral services were held at Knox United Church Roblin May 4 for Mary Snowdon 76 of Charleswood Winnipeg after a lengthy illness. She was born in England and came to Canada in 1910 with her husband later settling in Roblin district. Interment Redlin District Cemetery with several relatives surviving. Assiniboine Sewing Club Achievement Day Highlights

The Assiniboine Sewing Club held its fifth Achievement Day on April 30 at Dropmore Hall judged by Miss Norma Morrison. Betty Rawlings won a purple ribbon while Isabel Hunter, Marion Hunter, Shirley Robertson, Elaine Robertson, Faye Digby, Florette Simair, Janet Maudsley, Brenda Simair, Loretta Ziebart and Paulette Dietrich earned red ribbons. Paulette Dietrich also received blue. Selected items for forwarding to Brandon or Dauphin included Digby and Ziebart pieces and Rawlings skirt. Isabel Hunter to model at Rally Day July 9. Betty Rawlings won a trip to Wellman Lake in August. Demonstrations planned for Rally Day include Stand Tall and Make A Paper Dolly pieces. Isabel Hunter hosted the program with jokes and hints alongside a varied program.

National Hospital Day Observed and Meeting Notes

The Hospital Aid met May 1 in the Board Room with 18 members. They approved $20 for the Grandview Band for a carnival, discussed Polio Clinic and rags for Winnipeg, and noted a regional meeting at Dauphin. May 12 is National Hospital Day with Florence Nightingale's birth anniversary honored by Mrs. Fred MacArthur.

Cookie Day Planned by Knox Church Explorers

The Explorers of Knox United Church hold their annual Cookie Day this Friday. Local residents Mr. and Mrs. D. Goodbun and family of Brandon visited the Goodbun home over the weekend. Graham Mitchell left Tuesday for a Druggist Advisory Board meeting in Winnipeg and to visit his mother. Mrs. J. L. Mitchel and Mrs. W. Campbell with son Neil returned to Haney BC after a month with aunt Mrs. A. Harrop who has been ill. Mrs. Graham Mitchell went to Regina for the Eastern Star Grand Session and on return visited Mr. and Mrs. T. W. McGill in Yorkton and attended Rebekah Lodge. Grandview C.G.L.T. hosted Roblin C.G.I.T. Monday evening May 7, a soft ball game followed by a wiener roast and social, with transport from Mrs. J. Goodbun, Mrs. J. Hilland, Mrs. Wm. Cross and Mrs. F. Newton.

Resignation Accepted by Goose Lake School Board

At the May 3 regular Goose Lake Consolidated School Board meeting Mrs. Burelle resigned as Grade VII teacher with regret, bringing vacancies to three and noting all posts filled. Registration for fall beginners is set for Saturday at the Elementary School. Bield 4-H Calf Club Achievement Day Held

The Bield school grounds hosted a 4-H Beef Club Achievement Day on May 5 with eight members displaying red calves. Champion Edwin Bailes and reserve David Shiner led the top placings judged by Jim Ward of Deepdale, with senior showmanship going to David Shiner and Edwin Bailes and junior to Ron Hojnocki and Richard Dobranski.
