Motorcycle Escort Prepares for Roanoke Rapids Officer Funeral
State Highway Patrolman Ralph W. Arnold died at Roanoke Rapids Hospital at 5 45 PM from a skull fracture after his motorcycle hit a rough road between Rich Square and Ahoskie yesterday afternoon. An escort of fellow officers will leave Roanoke Rapids at 2 AM Friday carrying his body to Elkin for funeral services at 3 PM tomorrow. He is survived by his wife Lucille Mathis Arnold two sons a brother and three sisters.
