Herald seeks renewals as subscription drive begins

The Herald announces expired subscriptions will be cut from lists. A large circulation campaign starts Monday September 28 offering two free 1937 cars and cash prizes. Readers urged to subscribe through a worker to avoid missing issues and note street sales will cease during the campaign.

Watch recovered by engravings and college prosperity noted

Wade Marks in Roanoke Rapids received his lost expensive gold watch yesterday after a man found it near Weldon and identified Mr Marks by the engraving. Miss Josephine Hege reports strong UNC Woman's College enrollment and dormitory conversions to bedrooms due to overflowing registrations. The burial of Mrs F C Hege at Moravian Cemetery in Winston Salem is described with earlier work histories at Arista Mills dating back to 1883 and Roanoke Rapids in 1911.

Swing Man Paul Jones to Perform Friday in Downtown Hall

Paul Jones brings his ten piece orchestra to Roanoke Rapids for a Friday night dance from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The ensemble features two vocalists, a rhythm trio, modern amplifiers, and a broad dance music library. The Herald also promotes a seven week circulation campaign with grand prizes of two 1937 cars awarded November 14. Readers are urged to subscribe.
