Township adds 694 to nation's fighting list
The quiet registration under the recent man power bill took place at Rosemary and Roanoke Rapids with registrars enrolling Sammies. At Roanoke Rapids 346 registered including one alien and one declarant, 307 white and 39 colored. Rosemary recorded 348 registrants, 250 white and 98 colored, with two aliens. Washington dispatches said men aged 19 to 37 would be classified first and many registrants may enter camps in weeks.

Mrs. Maude Lee Kinker Dies After Illness in Roanoke
Mrs. Maude Lee Kinker of Rose Mary died in Roanoke Rapids Hospital after a three week illness. She is survived by her husband James Kinker and three children. Interment followed Thursday at the local cemetery with services led by Revs Taylor and Carter.
