Wiley C. King the newly appointed Fire Chief convened a round table with 24 fire department members to discuss policies under the new leadership. He urged cooperation and to set aside petty jealousies while continuing the department’s established approach.
Mr King was officially notified by Mayor Allsbrook of his appointment as Chief Tuesday about 7 15 p m the first fire alarm under his administration going off before the Mayor finished talking. The department has 24 men plus the Chief. four volunteers sleep at the station nightly. King, a card cutter for Rosemary Manufacturing, moved from Littleton in 1922 and previously served as a volunteer fireman. He and Mrs King reside at 1003 Henry Street.
