Roanoke Rapids Considers Safety Council Plan
A motion to form a Safety Council was put forward by T. J. Alford at a roanoke Rapids civic meeting in the Municipal Building. A study committee including Frank Sherry and C S Davis was named to review council types and report back with options. Dr. Walter Cutter outlined the three E factors engineering education and enforcement and urged appointing a part time president with a directing board to oversee funding.

A building boom hits Roanoke Rapids as twenty structures are in various stages of construction. A 71st permit has been issued and plans are in place for another. Seventeen are residences. Notable projects include Crew Development at Chaloner Park, Presbyterian Sunday School, Rosemary Manufacturing offices addition, and J. E. Davis stables on Henderson Street near the Junction.
