Fannie Hurst urges Americans to grasp starvation's horror and donate to the Emergency Food Collection. She recalls hunger’s toll on body and soul and asks readers to provide food in cans and money to aid those dying abroad and at home.
R A McGloughan of Scotland Neck was elected chairman of a newly organized District Committee for Boy Scouts of America. J Buxton Weaver was elected vice chairman and Sam Motz of Woodland district commissioner. The district covers lower Halifax and all Northampton counties except Gaston. A Rich Square meeting set for June 21 at 7 PM will complete the organization.
The circles of the Woman's Society of Christian Service at Rosemary Methodist Church will gather Monday night at 8 o'clock. A good program is planned and a large attendance is expected.
