Choi Visitor Assigned to Edgecombe Halifax Health Dept
Choi Chang Choi from Korea, studying Public Health in the United States, was assigned by the North Carolina State Board of Health to observe the Edgecombe Halifax District Health Department. He will return to Korea as Advisor to bureau public health of the Military Government. He noted surplus food waste in the country.

Williams Sentenced for Dynamiting Tenant House
W. Williams a 64 year old white farmer was tried in Halifax County Superior Court for assault with a deadly weapon and convicted then sentenced by Judge John J Burney to two to three years in State's Prison. The dynamiting of a tenant house in Garner s Cross roads last month involved Mrs Louise Brickell and seven children though no injuries occurred to the family. Williams claimed innocence at arrest but later confessed to Sheriff s officers stating he sought to frighten Mrs Brickell into moving out.

City playgrounds will open next Monday morning with four locations and daily hours for morning and afternoon sessions. Gaston Store Destroyed In Morning Fire
A Gaston business, P. I. Rook & Son, was entirely destroyed by an early morning blaze about 6 o clock. The fire reportedly started from an oil stove explosion. Brutus Rook, longtime owner, had nearly completed a sale to Liggon & Pearson when the incident occurred.

Pruden And Taylor Take Office Oath
Howard Pruden and W P Taylor were sworn in as city commissioners by Judge W O Thompson. Taylor was unchanged, Pruden new, replacing Alfred Mart in who declined re election. The body approved pool room permits, discussed street projects, and considered traffic and safety measures including trash cans, garages, parking signs, and Hamilton street speed enforcement.

Robert L. Bishop and his son Kelly Bishop were found guilty in Haliax County Superior Court on assault with intent to kill. Judge John Burney sentenced Robert to two years on the roads, while Kelly received five years probation. The men were brought late to court.
