Who Is Responsible And How Much Will It Cost
Representative Ben Everett proposes a bill to create a county tax collector for Halifax County removing tax duties from the Sheriff and the County Auditor. The measure includes checks and balances, aims to prevent further shortages, and raises questions about accountability and the total cost to taxpayers. The county seeks clarity on who will bear responsibility for past and future public fund history and how salaries and savings will be balanced.
