Dr R P Beckwith, Roanoke Rapids Hospital chief of staff and Rosemary Mfg. Co. physician, had a major operation at St Elizabeth Hospital in Richmond after a sudden illness. Dr Weathers aided, operation considered successful. he remains in hospital two to three weeks. Mrs Beckwith and sons returned to Roanoke Rapids. Dr Cashwell assists at Rosemary meanwhile.

Hedgepeth Injured In Hamilton and Seventh Crash
Local grocer and Sanitary Board member M H Hedgepeth was mildly hurt when his new Buick collided with J L Bass’s Nash at the Hamilton Street and Seventh Street intersection just after noon. Both drivers were shaken but not seriously injured. Bass’s car carried crates of eggs, mostly scrambled in the wreck.

Mrs. Tudor Dies at Roanoke Rapids Hospital
Mrs. Myrtle Tudor died at 1:15 this morning at Roanoke Rapids Hospital from blood poisoning believed caused by scratching a small sore. She lived on Weldon Road at the old Fulghum place. The report also notes Miss Katie Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Harris, graduated Tuesday from Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Local Scout Leader Heads to National Aquatic School
Cross Life Saver and Boy Scout leader will depart this week for a ten day National Aquatic School term at Camp Letts Maryland. The Red Cross run program starts Sunday. Sherrod also serves as business manager of the Textile Owls, a local baseball team.
