John Porch Severely Injured In Mill Accident
Roanoke Mills No 1 worker John Porch caught his arm in a sapper machine Monday morning. Fellow worker J P McNeil shut off the machine as it dragged Porch in to the shoulder. Arm was extricated after 15 minutes. tourniquet applied and Porch rushed to hospital with arm badly cut. Doctors hoped to save the limb barring infection.

The Rambling Hobos, Roanoke and Patterson Mills radio entertainers, performed a 20 minute program for the Kiwanis Club at the weekly meeting with Head Ennis as announcer. The act pleased the club and aided a fund to send the boys to Petersburg to be heard on WPHR at 10 15 a.m. Performers Red Matthews Billie Morgan Dewey Bailey and Herbert Dorms.

Waters Verdict Death by Own Action
Coroner's jury ruled Roanoke Mills employee Al Stanley Waters died by his own hand at his Weldon home on Saturday afternoon. The 28 year old Jacksonville North Carolina native left a wife Pearl Harrison and a five year old daughter Violet. Funeral services were held Monday.

About 90 Lions and Lionesses gathered at Chockoyette Golf Club for the installation of new officers for the year. Bob Melton's barbecue was served. New officers include M. Scott Benton as President Bill Alli good as first Vice President Roddy Meikle as second Vice President Sherrod Crumpler as third Vice President William Duke as Tail Twister Clayton Gurley as Lion Tanner Directors Jack Cassada and Roland Johnson. Paul Heydenrich and Mr. and Mrs. W A Sheppard attended as guests.
