Mystery death near Weldon prompts murder or suicide question
A badly decomposed body found hanging by a tree limb near Weldon on the Roanoke River is tentatively identified as Kaare Strand of Oslo. He appeared to have been dead 10 days or more, with over $300 in US currency and Norwegian money on site. Authorities see no clear foul play, though blood on the coat complicates the suicide theory. Strand stood about six feet tall, weighing about 170 pounds, and wore expensive clothes.
