State College Hints To Farm Homemakers
Moisture levels vary by fiber with brittle textiles demanding more moisture. Linen and cotton require substantial moisture for even penetration. other fibers less so. Over-wetting slows ironing. partial drying suits silks and rayons. Lighter rayon fabrics may not need dampening, while elasticized areas and waxed coatings can melt under heat. Check labels and avoid ironing knit distortions, pile fabrics, or corduroys. Brush pile when dry.
