The Weldon Ice Company opened an ice storage house on Second Street to supply the community. The branch will be managed by Mr. C. 2 Carter with wagons kept on Rosemary and Roanoke Rapids streets during the season. Various locals are noted visiting, traveling or vacationing, with multiple names and places mentioned in passing.
Two months old infant found in front yard of W S Coppedge home in Halifax last Tuesday night. Henry Motley and sister Mary Motley arrested Wednesday charged with abandoning the infant. Baby taken to Roanoke Rapids Hospital. Motleys plead not guilty and were released after hearing before Magistrate Millikin. Mrs Lollie Motley and Henry Motley connected with Rosemary and Littleton.
A Ford driven by Seabrook Jones carrying B Marks and seven passengers overturned on the Emporia to Franklin road. Miss Fleeta Marks suffered a broken collarbone, others escaped serious harm. The car righted by nearby men, Miss Fleeta sent to Roanoke Rapids Hospital, condition improving. J O H Olsen charged with transporting liquor for sale bound over to Halifax Superior Court. Joyner testified Olsen had brought whiskey to Rosemary to sell. Olsen denied. Jessie Marks bound over to August term for cutting W L Liles in June. The incidents occurred near Thelma with liquor, wrestling, and a knife attack involved.
A list of jurors drawn for the August term of Halifax Superior Court to convene in Halifax on Monday August 15 includes N. G. Dickens J. R. Kirkland G. W. Green S. B. Tippett J. J. Haskins J. B. Boseman W. J. Burnett W. A. Melvin J. V. Smoot W. T. Vaughan and many others in two weekly panels with dozens of names.
Mr. J. W. House of Wilson North Carolina will address the Baptist Baraca Class Sunday morning at 10 o clock. All class members are urged to attend and the public is invited to hear the address from their former beloved teacher.

Rev L B Jones leads Sunday school at 9 45 am with W W Woodruff as superintendent. Evening service at 8 pm features speaker Hon Knight of Weldon. No morning service this Sunday.
Halifax County Board of Commissioners met to consider bids for 250000 in 6 percent Road Bonds to fund a hard surface road from here to Weldon and other highway projects but no bids were submitted. The failure to bid signals strained national finances and leaves the board unsure of next steps.

Edgecombe Lodge No. 50 Tarboro reports officer installations led by C. O. Byrd and L. W. Journigan. Grand Master launches statewide attendance drive with red and blue divisions across Tarboro lodges. Reviews by law revisions and new degree team captaincy set to begin August and run to October, with officers urging all locals to attend and benefit from meetings.
Mr and Mrs J 8 Medlin and daughter Evelyn of Petersburg visit A J Medlin family. A cream supper at South Rosemary School raises funds. Miss Helen Powell wins prettiest cake. Many residents and travelers are listed visiting relatives and attending church and picnics. Other notes include hospital progress, upcoming children day service, and moves to Rockingham and Portsmouth.
Interesting statistics from the State Board of Health show typhoid affects all ages. Death certificates reveal 206 people over fifty and 202 under five during early death registrations, with five over eighty five and 28 under one also victims. The board urges universal anti typhoid vaccination for all to gain two to three years of immunity.
The Board of School Trustees awarded contracts for two thousand opera chairs and six hundred desks for the new Junior Senior High School building. American Seating Company was the successful bidder. Auditorium chairs will mirror those used in People’s Theatre.
Marriage of Leland Decker of Rosemary and Mattie Baird of Roanoke Rapids took place Tuesday night at the Christian church with Rev Ris officiating. Newlyweds will reside in Rosemary.
