Fire Destroys Churches Fibre Board Plant
Fire swept the Churches Fibre board plant early Thursday, gutting the drying room after a spark from an exhaust fan. Loss is estimated over three hundred thousand dollars, with partial insurance coverage. Sunday school at 9 45 A M and sermons at 11 A M and 8 P M invite all to attend. W W Woodruff superintends Sunday school. Local fire brigades responded swiftly. Continuous fire watch advised as investigations proceed.

Sunday Coca Colas Prohibited in Roanoke Rapids Stores
The Roanoke Rapids Board of Town Commissioners adopted an ordinance prohibiting Sunday sales of bottled sodas with meals and restricting Sunday activities to drugs milk ice and cooked foods with a 25 dollar fine. The ordinance takes effect in 30 days after publication. The board also licensed auto hires for five individuals and rejected jitney licenses for colored applicants while approving a new set of town ordinances to be printed as pamphlets.
