Missing Navy Storekeeper Red Taylor in Philippines War Theatre
William W. Red Taylor, 200 years old, reported missing in action in the Philippines theater. A storekeeper, third class, he joined the Navy September 6, 1942 and had been overseas for months after a June visit to his grandmother in Roanoke Rapids. His sister Ruby received a December 20, 1944 letter. he is the son of W. H. Taylor near Aurelian Springs.

War Department announced the death of Second Lieutenant Robert Rudolph Northington of Roanoke Rapids in action over England on December 24. A former A&P manager, he served in the Army Air Corps since 1942, earned silver bombardier wings in 1944, and had the best training record at Biggs Field El Paso. He was married to Ruth Green Hardison of Weldon and leaves behind a wife and son, plus his parents and siblings.
