Seaboard Railway Accident Adds To Its Bad Record

Enfield Roanoke Rapids High Game Trip Ends in Tragic Accident

Mrs. Susie P. Scott drove a car carrying her sister Mrs. John H. Parker and several schoolgirls from Enfield to a basketball game. Returning, near Weldon, a train near the crossing struck, severely injuring Mrs. Parker who later died. Witnesses faulted the watchman for no signal and lack of lights. Mrs. Parker, a New Jersey leader in multiple clubs, was visiting from Roanoke Rapids with her husband and son.

The subject died quietly at about three o'clock Sunday afternoon February 8 at her home on Jackson Street after long illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon with Rev. R. L. Topping. burial followed in the local Cemetery. She had belonged to the Christian Church for about three years.
