Delinquent Tax Lists and Local Notices
The county tax delinquent list appears with school and city lists due to be published in August beginning the first and second Mondays respectively. The High School Alumni Association thanks four Boy Scouts Eugene Shell Jack Vincent Francis Fisher and George Nethercutt for distributing campaign stickers. Miss Letha Blythe and Mr Leslie Garner of Roanoke Rapids were married August 12 in Lawrenceville Va. A gas theft incident interrupted by diggers at Fiske Carter Construction left a five gallon can, later found bearing the mayor's name.

A brick one story addition will house the Manual Training Department while the present Junior High space becomes classrooms. Bids open Friday August 25. The new structure sits behind the main High School building.

Infant Dies In City Funeral For 11 Day Old Robinson Child
Funeral services were held Monday August 14 for the 11 day old infant of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Robinson at their home. Interment took place in Roanoke Rapids Cemetery. The service was conducted at the home by Reverend V. H. Grantham.

Farmer Garris Acquitted in Edgecomb County Slaying
G. T. Garris, a farmer five miles from Enfield, was acquitted of second degree murder in the July 12 1933 killing of his cousin Henry Lewis. Self defense and defense of home were cited after a drunken dispute over the girl. Lewis died hours after being wounded.

Roanoke Rapids Graded School District voters back the supplement to extend the school term by one month with a 956 vote majority from 1,464 ballots. Overall turnout stood at 90 percent of 1,740 registered, with 527 against after accounting for uncast ballots.
