L. H. Dooley Cullom was found guilty by a Roanoke Rapids County Recorder's Court jury of non-support for his 6 year old son. He was ordered to pay $5 weekly and has appealed to the Superior Court amid a crowded courtroom. Defense testimony was largely ruled out as irrelevant.

Man Dies En Route to Roanoke Rapids in Indigestion
Waverly Hines a 40 year old colored farmer from Hawkins Chapel planned a 2 am departure to Roanoke Rapids to sell vegetables. He died of acute indigestion before leaving his bed found on his knees. The report notes his death occurred during the attempted trip and mentions a second item about Gus Pusateri imprisoned in St. Joseph jail who had bars painted silver and his cell red and white lacquered.

Man Killed by Unidentified Car Found on Roanoke Bridge
Hart Clements a 45 year old Halifax Paper Co. employee was found dead under the Roanoke River bridge after being struck by a mystery vehicle. Police traced the death to between 2 AM and early Sunday with mutilations suggesting a high speed impact and possible non bridge location.
